Week Holidays

We specialise in week long riding holidays with 5 days of riding included. Each day includes between 5-6 hours of horse riding with a lunch or dinner stop at a bar. The rides are varied but every week includes a ride around the Vinuela lake.
This whole area of Andalucia is breathtakingly beautiful and as we are in the mountains the views are magnificent wherever you look. Other rides include stops in one of the whitewashed villages, usually with a bar stop for lunch or drinks and tapas, rides through avocado plantations and olive groves and rides through (mostly!) dry riverbeds. This region has been particularly influenced by the Moorish invasion which is reflected in all of the villages architecture and even the culture. One of our favourite horse rides includes a visit to the Moorish watchtower followed by a visit to an isolated Buddhist community in the mountains boasting one of the largest stupas (Buddhist monuments) in Spain.
During the Romeria (Spanish horse festival) season from late May to July it is possible that you can attend one of the small village Romerias to soak up the atmosphere and run in the carrera de cintas - a sort of gymkhana competition which involves getting a pencil sized stick through an earring sized hoop suspended overhead, while galloping - no mean feat!

Weekend and Day Rides
We pride ourselves on being flexible so we will happily take you out for 2 days during the weekend or even single days during the week. The weekend rides are of the same spec as the week holiday rides  5/6 hours riding per day with a lunch stop. We are also happy to cater for people who find themselves holidaying or living in on this part of Spain and do rides from 1 to 3 hours during the day at a price of 25 euros per person per hour.

Group Size and Rider ability
We prefer to keep the group size to between 2 and 6 people plus a guide, which is small enough to allow for safety and individual attention.
Realistically you have to be able to control a horse at all paces, including gallop, you must have an independent seat and be comfortable riding in a good quality English saddle for up to 6 hours per day. The terrain is varied and in some places steep and mountainous, the horses are surefooted and agile.
Novice and nervous riders are welcome to contact us for information on shorter and/or easier rides.

Equipment
You are expected to provide your own riding wear, however we do have lightweight riding hats in various sizes available. Jodhpurs and boots or chaps are advisable but any long trousers and suitable footwear is acceptable.
During the summer months sun tan lotion, a baseball cap or hat, swimwear and sandals are all necessities.
This part of Andalucia is famed having the best climate in Europe but during the winter it can get cold and wet so it is advisable to bring a warm waterproof jacket. There may be times during the winter when there is a torrential downpour and we reserve the right to cancel the rides in which case you will be refunded your money for the day's riding. When you book with us we will give you more information on what clothes and equipment you will need for the time of the year.

Safety and Insurance
All Riders are expected to have their own travel, medical and sport insurance.
Horse riding is a dangerous sport and Andalucia Horse Riding will not accept any responsibility for any accidents which occur whilst out riding or on our premises, all riders are expected to sign an acknowlegement of risk form to that effect.
Hard hats are not compulsory but we do provide them and prefer you to use them.
