All the horses are ridden in comfortable English saddles fitted with saddlebags for your personal items. We also have Vaquera (Spanish cowboy), Portuguese or Western saddles available if you would like to try something different (click on the link above for more information on Vaquera riding).
The bridles are mostly Spanish Vaquera bridles made from wide soft leather, complete with leather fly fringes.
The horses are the integral part of our riding holidays and you will find them all to be kind natured and well mannered. We work from home and our horses are all much-loved members of the family; their health and happiness is of utmost importance to us and we like our horses to retain their individual personality and quirks. These horses have all been bred here and are well suited to the Andalucian climate. All of the horses live out all year around in groups of 4 or 5, in order to interact with each other. Each horse is carefully selected to best suit his or her rider's ability and preference and the same horse is allotted to the same rider for the duration of the riding holiday - however if you wish to try another horse, this will not be a problem.
Below is a short summary of our horses.
16.2hh pure bred 5 year old Andalucian stallion. Flamenco, (stable name Bali), came to us in a pitiful state in the summer of 2007. He had 6 months of rest, TLC and good food. We are starting to school him now. He has the typical calm and inquisitive temperament of the Spanish stallion.

17.1hh English Thoroughbred X, 8 year old gelding. Iluso was found at a local horse sale in August 2007, where he had been tied to a rubbish skip without food or water for 5 days. We have spent a lot of time reschooling him and he has lovely paces and a nice jump. Iluso is a gentle giant with the sweetest nature you could imagine.
15.3hh Spanish X Arab 11 year old gelding. Encantador is a very honest horse, showing more of the Spanish than Arab temperament; originally intended for the bull ring he has been mistreated in the past but a lot of hard work and love has made this horse into the gentle and noble horse that he is today.
14.3hh Spanish x Arab 12 year old mare. Luna is forward going and responsive. Always willing, this horse is a delight to ride - she shows more of the Arab temperament than the Spanish and she loves to gallop.
15.2hh Spanish X Anglo-Arab 7 year old mare. Morena has been well brought up and has a delightful curious nature, which often leads her to let the other horses out or empty the wheelbarrow in the middle of the yard!
15.2hh Spanish X 9 year old gelding. Oso used to be a carriage horse, but has been reschooled by us and is now an inquisitive, very kind honest horse, equally suited for novices or the more experienced rider.
15.1hh Spanish X mare. Opal is a beautiful 9 year old mare showing a lot of the Spanish type and temperament. She is generally a good natured and easy going mare, and because of her short coupled, strong build is particularly suited to heavier riders.

3 year old Spanish gelding. Duende will make 14.2hh, and is going to be trained as a ride/drive pony. He is a very pretty pony, showing lots of the classic Spanish movement.

Xanthus was born in March 2007, and is the foal of Luna, sired by a purebred Andalucian stallion. He is a very friendly, cheeky boy, and loves lots of fuss and cuddles from everybody.
